Extremity Pain

The rotator cuff is a group of muscles that add stability to the shoulder. One or more of these muscles can be injured causing pain and a decrease in range of motion of the shoulder. Stiffness and swelling can occur as well. This type of injury can occur from lifting a heavy object over the head or pulling something too heavy. The rotator cuff can also simply get worse over time from strenuous overuse. Stretches and exercises are often recommended. Dr. Marshall will also make sure the shoulder is maintaining proper alignment so the shoulder can heal correctly over time.

Tennis elbow is a condition in which the muscles around the elbow become overused, tight and irritated. Contrary to the name one does not have to be a tennis player to have tennis elbow symptoms. Tennis elbow is usually brought on by overuse and repetitive motions from a hobby or a job for example. Treatment from a chiropractor involves making sure the elbow has proper alignment and range of motion. There are some therapies and lifestyle changes that can make a significant difference as well.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a very common form of hand pain. Dr. Marshall has treated many cases of carpal tunnel syndrome successfully in the past. The symptoms from carpal tunnel syndrome are usually from some sort of compression from the median nerve. The median nerve runs through the palm area of the hand. There are 8 carpal bones in the wrist that form a “tunnel” if you will. This tunnel can sometimes be compromised by misaligned bones in the wrist. Dr. Marshall will adjust the wrist to realign the bones of the wrist taking pressure off the area.
