When you visit Marshall Chiropractic, our primary goal is to relieve your discomfort quickly and efficiently. But the care you receive in our office is only part of the equation. Many patients ask what they can do between appointments to speed up their recovery and maintain their spinal health. The answer is consistent, effective home care.
Think of your body like a system that needs ongoing maintenance. Just as you wouldn't visit the dentist and then stop brushing your teeth, your spine needs daily attention to stay aligned and pain-free.
Foam Rolling: Your Daily Recovery Tool
One of the most effective tools for home care is the foam roller. Consistent foam rolling for just five to ten minutes a day makes a real difference in your recovery. It relieves muscle tension in the spine, shoulders, hips, and legs, reduces back pain, and improves your flexibility and range of motion. Aim for one to two minutes per muscle group, twice a day. Keep a foam roller near your couch or TV area as a reminder to use it.
Pro Tip: Even five minutes of foam rolling while watching TV in the evening makes a real difference in your recovery over time.
The Power of Quality Rest
Your body does the majority of its healing during deep sleep. Without enough rest, recovery slows down and you become more susceptible to pain. Aim for at least eight hours of quality sleep each night. A consistent sleep schedule, minimal screen time before bed, and a cool comfortable room all help significantly.
At Marshall Chiropractic, we believe your effort at home goes a long way. The work we do in the office and the work you do at home work together — one without the other limits your results. If you have questions about your home care routine, Dr. Marshall is always happy to walk you through it at your next visit.
